Every vial that leaves here has a batch number on the label and a certificate of analysis tied to that batch. Most people never open the PDF, and of the people who do open it, most tell me they are not sure what they are looking at. So here is how to read one. WHAT A COA IS AND WHAT IT IS NOT A COA is a laboratory report on a specific batch. It tells you what a third party found when they tested a sample from that batch. It does not certify that the product is safe for you, it does not certify it for human use, and it is not a substitute for a conversation with a doctor. It is an identity and purity document. That is all, and that is still worth a lot. THE FOUR THINGS TO LOOK AT 1. Batch number. Check it against your vial label. If they do not match, the document is describing a different batch and is useless to you. This sounds obvious. It is the single most common thing people get wrong. 2. Purity by HPLC. High performance liquid chromatography separates the sample and measures the relative size of the peaks. You want a large single main peak and very little else. Most research grade material comes back around 98 to 99 percent. The number alone is less informative than the chromatogram, which is why we include the trace rather than just the figure. A clean 98 percent with one main peak and flat baseline is better than a 99 percent with three shoulders on it. 3. Mass spectrometry. This is the identity check. HPLC tells you the sample is one thing, mass spec tells you what that thing is. You are looking for the observed molecular weight to line up with the expected molecular weight for that sequence. BPC-157 should come in at roughly 1419 daltons, for instance. If mass spec is missing from a COA entirely, you have a purity report with no identity confirmation, which is a strange document to be reassured by. 4. Date and laboratory. Who did the testing and when. A COA from the manufacturer's own in-house lab is worth less than an independent one, and we say which is which on ours. WHAT WE SHIP Lyophilised powder in sealed glass vials with a rubber stopper and an aluminium crimp seal. The powder can look like a white cake, a thin film on the bottom, or a scattering that looks like almost nothing. All three are normal. Freeze drying is not tidy and the amount of visible material tells you nothing about the mass, a 5 mg vial genuinely does look almost empty. Vials go out in insulated packaging. For the lyophilised powder that is honestly more about protecting the glass than about temperature, since the dry powder is stable at room temperature for a good while. We use a courier with tracking to all major centres. Outlying areas add a day or two and December adds considerably more than that. If your vial arrives with the seal compromised, the stopper pushed in, or cracked glass, do not use it. Photograph it and contact us. That is what the photo is for, we are not going to argue with you about it. WHAT WE ARE NOT We do not sell medicine and we do not give medical advice. The point about the chromatogram mattering more than the headline percentage is one I had not thought about properly. I have definitely been treating that number as a single score out of 100. Small request: could the batch number be printed a bit larger on the label? Mine is legible but it is right on the curve of the glass and I have to rotate it under a lamp to read it.

Noted and passed on. It is a real constraint on a 2 ml vial, there is not much flat surface to work with, but there is room to improve the placement at least.

Can confirm the "looks empty" thing. My first 5 mg vial arrived and I genuinely thought I had been sent an empty one and was drafting quite a rude email before I found this post. There was a barely visible film at the bottom. Would maybe be worth a line on the product page itself rather than only here, because the people who need to read it are exactly the people who have not found the forum yet.

Coming back to this months later to ask about something. My COA lists a water content figure from Karl Fischer titration and I have no idea what to do with it. Is a higher number bad, and what is a normal range?

Good question and it is the entry most people scroll past. Karl Fischer measures residual water left in the powder after freeze drying. Lyophilised peptide typically comes in somewhere between 3 and 10 percent. Lower is better, because water is what drives the degradation reactions that break a peptide down in storage, so a vial carrying 12 percent moisture will lose potency faster on the shelf than one at 4 percent even if both tested identically pure on the day. The second thing it does is change your dose slightly. A 5 mg vial at 8 percent water holds roughly 4.6 mg of peptide and the rest is water. Add the trifluoroacetate counterion from purification, which can be another 5 to 20 percent of the mass on a basic peptide, and the gap between the label and the peptide you are drawing gets real. That is why a COA reporting net peptide content is more useful than one reporting gross weight. For practical purposes: under 10 percent is unremarkable, over that I would want to know why, and if a batch came back high we would not ship it.
